“It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey.” ~ Wendell Berry

Sometimes in life we reach a point where we aren’t quite sure which way to go, when we no longer quite know what to do, and when finding the answers on our own feels impossible. In these times, I am here to help you in navigating through your journey and in doing the real work of life. Wherever you may be on your unique path, I will meet you there with a compassionate, judgement free, and supportive presence and work with you to find a direction of growth, healing, and deeper knowing.

I work with individuals experiencing a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, chronic illness, spiritual crisis and grief. And I help couples create more loving, connected and healthy relationships, recognizing that intimate relationships often expose our deepest wounds as well as our greatest chance for healing.

I specialize in working with children, parents and families, utilizing my background in attachment theory and family systems. I am passionate about supporting emotional and psychological health in families, so both children and their parents can thrive. I employ the principles of Positive Parenting and Conscious Parenting. And I enjoy supporting women going through the various stages of motherhood, including pregnancy and post-partum times.

I hold a humanistic perspective, meaning I believe that you are whole, deserving, and perfect at your core. I trust that your inherent intelligence and ability to connect to yourself can be revealed and encouraged through the therapeutic relationship that we will create together. I respect that you are the ultimate authority on your life and experience. I will bring a warm, kind, authentic, and present energy to our sessions and will assist you to discover and overcome whatever obstacles may be keeping you from living your most vibrant, full, and aligned life.

I practice holistic and integral psychology, taking the whole body, mind, and spirit into consideration. I can use a variety of therapeutic modalities, depending upon your unique needs, but generally bring a somatic, depth, and transpersonal approach to my work. Working together, we will explore the deeper meanings in your life and relationships as well as the deeper reasons behind your challenges and difficulties. We will pay attention to “where” and “how” feelings and experiences are held within your body. I can facilitate in this exploration through dreamwork, soul work, parts work, meditation, mindfulness, and embodiment exercises.

My M.A. is in Integral Counseling Psychology from The California Institute of Integral Studies. I obtained my B.A. in Psychology from California State University Monterey Bay, with an emphasis in childhood development.

I invite you to contact me and look forward to meeting you. I am here and ready to support you in finding your inner guiding light, and helping it to shine bright.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Your fee will be set according to a sliding scale, in collaboration with your therapist, prior to your first counseling session. Total costs depend upon the number of sessions you choose to utilize.

If you have private health insurance, please be aware that your costs for therapy may be less by using an in-network provider for your insurance company. This will depend upon your plan's deductible amounts and co-payments. In some cases, counseling at Shine a Light is less costly than using private insurance.

If you hope to use "out of network" benefits through your private insurance, please be aware that many plans will not reimburse for services provided by pre-licensed therapists (most of our staff).
