Are there parts of yourself that you have lost sight of or need to activate to live a more fulfilling life? Do
the remnants of trauma you carry effect how you show up with yourself and others? Have you
experienced a glimpse of the person you know you could be but then lost touch?
We are living through turbulent and sometimes confusing times. Where can you turn when you need to
process something deeply? I am glad that you are reaching out to take the next step in your healing
journey and I am here to support you. I believe that sharing your story and allowing yourself to be heard
and seen is powerful and sets transformation in motion.
My interventions stem from deep listening and meeting you where you are with an eye toward where you
want to be. I seek collaborative input so we can co-create a treatment approach that reflects your unique
goals and values.
My clients reflect back to me that they feel safe and accepted sitting in the compassionate and grounded
space that I create for them. I believe that we have everything we need to heal ourselves already within
and that we are best equipped to tap into our innate healing potential by making use of the medicine of
relationship, because as humans we are relational beings. What is special—and curative—about the
therapeutic relationship between counselor and client is that we both bring our presence and attention to
your recovery. My guidance is offered to activate your healing and I welcome your feedback every step of
the way.
My approach is insight oriented, humanistic, and client centered. I recently received my Masters of Arts in
Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University (now National University) with an extensive
focus in holistic studies, during which time I was grateful to explore techniques in Hakomi, drama therapy,
Jungian studies, transpersonal and somatic approaches. I have also completed the mirror training at
Process Therapy Institute in San Jose and my approach is strongly oriented toward the process therapy
model, which emphasizes bringing awareness to what can be transformed in the present moment.
I also bring to my practice years of working in a holistic educational environment with school-aged
children, as well as my previous work in the community as a yoga teacher. Thirty-five years of personal
meditation and yoga practice have taught me the patience and focus that supports me in supporting you.
Foundational to my platform is my Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from UCSC. As a multi-ethnic,
first generation American of Latinx descent, I am awake to systemic injustice and understand that it can
truly impact interpersonal relationships and identity. LGBTQIA+ ally.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your therapy sessions will cost. Your fee will be set according to a sliding scale, in collaboration with your therapist, prior to your first counseling session. Total costs depend upon the number of sessions you choose to utilize.

If you have private health insurance and we are not in-network with your plan, please be aware that your costs for therapy may be less by using an in-network provider. This will depend upon your plan's deductible amounts and co-payments. In some cases, counseling at Shine a Light is less costly than using private insurance.

If you hope to use "out of network" benefits through your private insurance, please be aware that many plans will not reimburse for services provided by trainees. Please request an Associate level therapists for out-of-network billing.
