Marina Tous Clots

MFT Trainee

Hi! I’m Marina. Therapy does not have to start with a crisis or a perfectly formed goal. Usually, there is simply something you would like to be going differently. Maybe you feel anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or keep running into the same problem. My job is to help you understand what is happening, figure out what you want to be different, and look for ways to get there. Sometimes that means solving a very concrete problem. Other times it means asking bigger questions about what matters to you, how you want to live, or whether the life you have built still fits.

In session, I am warm, engaged, and practical. I pay attention to what is happening right now, to the patterns that have developed in your relationships, and to the ways stress or emotion may show up in your body. I also care about where you want to go from here. Sometimes we might work through something painful, practice a difficult conversation, build ways to handle strong emotions, or try a different response when the usual one is not working. With children, therapy often looks more like play, movement, creativity, and helping caregivers better understand what their child may be trying to communicate. My work is informed by Gestalt, relational, somatic, existential, and solution-focused therapy, but I am more interested in what is useful to you than in following a formula.

I’m originally from Catalonia and offer therapy in English, Spanish, and Catalan. I especially enjoy working with people whose lives cross cultures, languages, or different ideas of home and belonging. The ocean has always been a big part of my life, and some of what I value there shows up in how I work too: paying close attention, staying flexible, trying things, and adjusting when the conditions change. Therapy can be serious, but it can also have humor, creativity, and a little breathing room. Wherever you are starting from, we can start there.

We have openings in all our offices and via tele-health. You don't have to wait around on a wait list. Use 'request an appointment," form to get matched with a therapist who will be a good fit for you.
